Kathleen McGowan began working on the first novel ‘The Expected One’ in 1989. Focusing on the role of Mary Magdalene, it was self-published in 2005. On July 25, 2006, the book was republished by Simon & Schuster under the Touchstone imprint. The second novel of the series is ‘The Book of Love’, published in 2009, focusing on the life of Mathilda of Canossa. The third novel of the series is ‘The Poet Prince’, published in 2010, focusing on the life of Lorenzo de Medici. Each novel of the series features the fictitious heroine Maureen Paschal, who is tasked with uncovering alleged historical and Christian enigmas. Other fictitious characters include Berenger Sinclair and Tamara Wisdom, as well as the enigmatic character Destino. An ancient prophecy predicts the arrival of ‘The Expected One’, a woman who is destined to bring Mary Magdalene’s gospel to the world. When Maureen Pascal stumbles into a dangerous and secret world of people who will fight to the death to keep–or to destroy–one of the world’s most powerful secrets, she also discovers that the ancient prophecy points directly to her. Follow her breathtaking adventure as she deciphers ancient clues, defies the world’s most powerful traditions, and risks her life in order to fulfill her destiny and find the scroll that begins: “I am Mary, called Magdalene, a princess of the royal tribe of Benjamin and a daughter of the Nazarenes. I am the lawful wife of Jesus, the Messiah of The Way. I leave these words for the children of the future, so that when the time is come they may find them and know the truth of those who led The Way.’
