Gertrude Hall Brownell (1863-1961) was the real name of the author who wrote under the pen name of Gertrude Hall. Known to her friends as “Kitty.” She was close friends with many of the most prominent writers of her day, including Willa Cather and Frances Hodgson Burnett. She was married to author William Crary Brownell.
