Herman Klein (born Hermann Klein; 23 July 1856 – 10 March 1934) was an English music critic, author and teacher of singing. Klein’s famous brothers included Charles and Manuel Klein. His second wife was the writer Kathleen Clarice Louise Cornwell, and one of their children was the writer Denise Robins.

Adelina Patti (19 February 1843 – 27 September 1919) was an Italian opera singer, earning huge fees at the height of her career in the music capitals of Europe and America in the 19th century. She first sang in public as a child in 1851, and gave her last performance before an audience in 1914. Along with her near contemporaries Jenny Lind and Therese Tietiens, Patti remains one of the most famous sopranos in history.
