Maria di Sebregondi Lenzen, aka Maria ten Brink (b. 12/18/1814 in Dorsten, d. 2/11/1882 in Anholt). Lenzen’s birth name was Sebregondi. She was the daughter of a doctor in Dorsten. After attending the Ursuline School in Dorsten, she married the lawyer Gustav Lenzen on 1/17/1834. After the death of her husband ten months later, she returned to her parents’ house in Dorsten and became a writer. 1848 she married again and lived with her husband Ignaz ten Brink in Anholt , where she stopped her work as a writer for representative duties as well as birth and upbringing of her son Franz. She did not write again until ten Brink’s death in 1875. She had close contacts with the Princely Salm-Salmschen Hof at Anholt Castle. In literary terms, she turned to local topics, with the nobility usually playing a special role. She has become known to a wider audience in particular through her short stories.
